Our Favourite Interior Trends for 2023

2023 is here and we love to see the new trends for the new year. Fortunately, there are also always timeless and classic interiors that never go out of style. An accent piece can be a fun way to add a new trend or make a small commitment to a bold choice or colour. Redoing your kitchen cabinetry can change the whole feel of the heart of your home. Below are our six favourite trends for 2023.

OPEN-CONCEPT KITCHENS

Flow from one room to the next. Have a conversation with your partner who’s on the couch. Do homework at the table while the smell of baking cookies wafts your way. It’s great for being sociable and you can entertain guests around a beautiful kitchen island. Kitchens are one of our favourite rooms of the house and we love to see people gather and enjoy a transformed and organised space with their family and friends.

THE WOOD RESURGENCE

But really, did it ever go away? Wood is timeless and classic. You can brighten a space with lighter or grey wood; you can have a rich and elegant space with darker woods and mahogany (library, anyone?). It can be fresh and modern. It can be vintage and retro. We put wood on our forever list.

GREEN, GREEN, GREEN

It evokes nature. It’s beautiful in all its varied and complex shades. Verdigris is definitely a solid new colour choice for 2023 and beyond. We currently have our NX637 Forest Green in our Supermatt+2 collection and NX2107 Midnight Green Premier Matt in our NX Infinite collection. We love what green can do to a space and we know you will too.

BLACK AS NIGHT

Sleek, sophisticated, sexy, a hint of drama? Matt or glossy, or a mix of both, black transforms a space. Black kitchens and black bookshelves are practical, effortless, and stunning. Nothing is the new black. Black is still king.

BOLD COLOURS

Live out loud, baby. Rich, jewel-toned, and bold colours are back. Yellow, orange, turquoise, pink…Pantone announced the colour of 2023 as Viva Magenta. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said the colour “welcomes anyone and everyone with the same verve for life and rebellious spirit. It is a color that is audacious, full of wit, and inclusive of all.” That’s the spirit. Don’t be afraid to spice up your living room, bedroom, kitchen, caravan…

INDUSTRIAL VIBES + LAYERED TEXTURES

Metal, wood, brick, glass. The industrial look is raw but also chic and can look refined. Don’t be afraid to combine textures even if you don’t live in a loft or old factory. There are various wood grains and textures, different kinds of stones and marble, glossy surfaces and supermatt ones…mix and match and see what kinds of beautiful industrial and cosy spaces you can create by combining textures and materials. Add bohemian rugs and touches of inviting pops of colour.
